Ninh Binh approves USD 19 million rental housing project

Ninh Binh Province has approved a VND 502.2 billion (USD 19.1 million) rental housing project to replace ageing apartment blocks and expand social housing.

The project will replace two ageing five-storey apartment blocks and an old market with a 15-storey apartment building, a basement, roads, parking facilities and other supporting infrastructure.

Due for completion in 2028, the project will provide housing for residents displaced from the ageing apartment blocks and other eligible beneficiaries, while improving urban infrastructure and making better use of public land.

The existing apartment blocks, built in the 1970s, have severely deteriorated after nearly five decades of use. More than 100 households, or about 250 residents, currently live there, and authorities have had to evacuate the buildings during storms over safety concerns.
