Nine more people tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 after returning from abroad

Nine people including seven returning from the UK have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, bringing the total number of COVID-19 patients in Vietnam to 85, the Ministry of Health announced.

The 77th case is a 25-year-old female Vietnamese student in the UK who lives in Hanoi's Thanh Xuan District. She arrived in Hanoi on March 17 on Qatar Airways flight QR976.

The 78th case is a 22-year-old male Vietnamese student in the UK who lives in Hanoi's Bac Tu Liem District. He landed at the Noi Bai Airport on Emirates flight EK394 on March 17.

Both patients have been quarantined since their arrival in the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases and their health is stable.

The 79th and the 80th cases are a 48-year-old woman and her 18-year-old daughter who live in the southern province of Bac Lieu. They had been living in the UK for the last two years. On March 14, they flew from London to Dubai on Emirates flight EK4 and then landed in Ho Chi Minh City on Emirates flight EK392 the next day. They have been quarantined and treated at the Cu Chi field hospital.

The 81st case is a 20-year-old man who resides in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum. On March 14, he took the Air France flight AF258 from Paris to Vietnam, arriving in Ho Chi Minh City on March 15. He has been quarantined in District 12 since.

The 82nd case is a 16-year-old female teenager in Ho Chi Minh City's District 5. On March 14, she took the Emirates flight EK30 with her mother from London to Dubai. She landed at Tan Son Nhat Airport on March 15 and has been quarantined in District 12.

The 83rd case is a 50-year-old American woman who lives in Ho Chi Minh City's Binh Thanh District. In the 14 days preceding her return to Vietnam, she had visited Phuket in Thailand. She boarded Turkish Airlines flight TK612 from Istanbul and landed at Tan Son Nhat Airport on March 15 and has been quarantined since in District 12.

The 84th case is a 21-year-old male Vietnamese student in the UK who lives in Hanoi's Dong Da District. He returned to the Noi Bai Airport on Vietnam Airlines flight VN54 on March 18. He has been quarantined at the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases.

The 85th case is a 20-year-old male Vietnamese student in the UK who resides in Hanoi's Ba Dinh District. He also landed at the Noi Bai airport March 18 on Vietnam Airlines flight VN54 and has been quarantined in the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases.

The Ministry of Health said that all the nine new cases are now in stable condition.

According to the ministry, after 16 patients were discharged, there are now 69 Covid-19 cases being treated at local hospitals. Two of them including a British man and a Vietnamese woman are in serious condition as they have other diseases. Others are recovering, with five have showed negative for the virus at least once.
