According to the management board of the Dung Quat Economic Zone, the accident occurred at 2pm while a group of workers were working in the company’s cargo store area.
"The fire spread quickly and some workers could not manage to escape in time," the board said.
The injured workers were immediately rushed to the Quang Nam Central General Hospital but some were then transferred to the Danang General Hospital the same day due to severe burns.
Doctor Le Van Muoi from the Danang General Hospital said that three were suffering burns of 70-80 percent of their body and are receiving intensive treatment.
The management board of the Dung Quat Economic Zone asked the company to make a detailed report on the incident.

Dung Quat Shipyard was established in 2006 and previously belonged to Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Group. The company was transferred to state-owned oil and gas group PetroVietnam in 2010.
In 2021, a forklift accident occurred at the company, causing two deaths and one injury.
