The VND760-billion anti-saline intrusion dam on the Cai River was started on September 9, 2020 and was scheduled for completion by late 2022.

The project would ensure freshwater for 500,000 people and irrigation for 2,000 hectares of agricultural lands.
However, only three-quarters of the project has been finished.
According to Khanh Hoa’s project management board, only 25 out of 36 households agreed to the compensation. The project halted last year because of site clearance problems.
Meanwhile, the wastewater treatment plant in the north of Nha Trang, which costs VND300 billion and belongs to the Coastal Cities Sustainable Environment Project, is also sluggish.
The three-hectare plant, which has a daily capacity of 15,000 cubic metres, is in Vinh Ngoc Commune. Work on the project kicked off in 2021 and was slated for completion by late 2023. However, some facilities still need to be finished.
Lots of equipment has become rusty after being left idle for a long time.
The provincial project management board has identified slow site clearance as the primary cause of the plant’s current pace. However, the contractor is actively accelerating the remaining work, including the development of green spaces, to expedite the project's completion.
