The 7th session of the 12th National Assembly (NA) began on May 20, 2010 with a focus on socio-economic issues and legislative programmes.

The National Assembly will pass 10 legislative bills and provide opinions on 6 others
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will deliver his report during the first part of the session detailing the socio-economic state from late 2009 to present.
There has been a promising economic growth rate of 5.83% in the first four months of the year.
The month long session will include leaders of the party, the National Assembly and government.
In 2009, the National Assembly set forth 25 socio-economic targets however, 8 of those were not met and will be addressed along with economic growth and inflation targets that were amended in 2010.
During the month, the National Assembly intends to review and pass 10 legislative bills including amended laws regarding Vietnam’s State Bank, amended laws on credit institutions, housing and land tax laws, laws on adoption, laws on criminal penalty execution, laws on using energy efficiency, laws regarding disabled people, laws on postal services, laws on commercial referees and laws on food safety.
The National Assembly will also define and adopt amended resolutions including supplementation of several articles of Resolution No. 66/2006/QH11 on national projects submitted to the National Assembly for direction. They will also provide resolutions on the law and ordinance building programme for 2011.
National Assembly will consult 6 legislative bills including taxation laws on environmental protection, amended inspection laws, laws on administrative procedures, laws about employees, laws on protecting consumer interests and amended mineral laws.
The National Assembly will be given reports on supervision activities of establishing universities, investment and ensuring training quality of the university educational system. Inspection carried out at 51 out of 142 universities nationwide pointed out numerous disadvantages and limits of the university educational system.
Policies on the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City express way construction project investment and master plan of Hanoi will also be put on the table for discussion.
