More trains added to serve coming national holidays

Vietnam Railways has announced plans to provide 52 more trains to meet rising demand on the coming National Reunification (April 30) and International Labour Day (May 1) holidays.

Vietnam Railways (VNR) has announced plans to provide 52 more trains to meet rising demand on the coming National Reunification (April 30) and International Labour Day (May 1) holidays.

The added trains will operate from April 28 and May 3, focusing on routes to famous tourist destinations such as Danang, Vinh, Quy Nhon and Nha Trang.

According to VNR, 22 trains will be added to Hanoi-Danang, Hanoi-Dong Hoi, Hanoi-Vinh, Hanoi-Thanh Hoa, Hanoi-Lao Cai and Hanoi-Haiphong routes.

Another 28 will be used for routes from HCM City to Danang, Quang Ngai, Dieu Tri, Quy Nhon, Nha Trang and Phan Thiet.

VNR also plans to provide more Hanoi-HCM City trains.

The railway will continue offering five percent discounts for people buying return tickets and prioritised groups, including students, Vietnamese heroic mothers, children with disabilities, disabled people, war veterans, wounded soldiers and the elderly.

Public workers in Vietnam will enjoy five consecutive days off to mark the Hung Kings Commemoration Day, Reunification Day, and International Labour Day.

Hung Kings Commemoration Day, which falls on the 10th day of the third lunar month, is on April 29 this year. However, April 29 and April 30 are Saturday and Sunday, so May 2 and 3 will make up for the shortfall in time off.
