According to the Hanoi Transport Corporation (Transerco), fares were waived on 128 subsidised routes between February 16 and February 22. The operator ran 35,527 services, carrying 360,975 passengers, an increase of 23.9 per cent year on year.

Transerco said this was the first time it had provided free bus travel during Tet under a directive from the municipal people’s committee.
At major bus stations including Giap Bat, My Dinh, Gia Lam and Yen Nghia, authorities recorded 8,288 coach departures, including 369 additional services, serving nearly 60,000 passengers.
Parking services managed by affiliated units handled 117,300 vehicles over the period, comprising 97,450 cars and 19,850 motorbikes.
The company said bus operations, inter-provincial coach services and station management were organised efficiently, meeting rising travel demand during the holiday.
