The Ministry of Transport has announced 26 contractors that are considered to have delivered below-par performances after an inspection of 480 contractors in Vietnam.

According to the ministry, 26 contractors were rated incompetent while 48 were only average. The rating is based on financial capacity, machinery, ability to meet schedule, labour safety and other criteria.
The list of 26 weak contractors includes four South Korean firms including Keangnam Enterprises, Samwhan Corporation, Kukdong and Halla Corporation. Well-known firms such as Vietnam Waterway Construction Corporation, Civil Engineering Construction Corporation 8 (CIENCO8) and Red River Contraction Company were also rated as weak.
Most of these contractors were rated weak due to violations or wrongdoings.
Contractors who have violated regulations and have their contracts terminated will be banned from bidding for new projects under the Ministry of Transport. Investors and project management board must have deal with contractors who committed small faults to ensure the quality of their projects.
The Ministry of Transport is rating contractors annually to build a database for local authority tenders.
