Alamsyah has progressed rapidly in recent times and had caused great trouble for Minh at the semi-finals of the same event two years ago. He also defeated some other strong opponents at this tournament.
However, Minh started the match confidently and finished the first set 21-9 in only 19 minutes. He continued to dominate in the second set,, finished it 21-6 and completed the match in 36 minutes.
At the semi-finals, Minh will face the winner of the match between No.2 seed Sho Sasaki from Japan and No.5 seed Taufik Hidayat from Indonesia.
