Immediately after floodwaters receded in Thai Nguyen, the General Department of Logistics and Engineering under the Ministry of Defence dispatched military medical teams to help residents prevent disease outbreaks.

In Linh Son Ward, one of the areas hardest hit by the recent historic floods, Medical Team 1 under the General Department of Logistics and Engineering provided initial treatment for illnesses caused by prolonged rain, storms, and flooding.

Colonel Doctor Luong Minh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Military Institute of Preventive Medicine, said the team quickly disinfected surfaces, treated water, and provided care for post-flood illnesses such as skin, digestive, and eye infections.

Officers and soldiers of the team worked with residents to collect, bury, and disinfect areas at high risk of disease outbreaks.

In the Vai residential area, Linh Son Ward, 28 livestock farms belonging to 26 households were submerged for days, killing thousands of chickens and pigs. After the floodwaters receded, the dead animals began to decompose, emitting a foul smell and causing severe pollution.

The General Department of Logistics and Engineering has mobilised more than 60 officers and soldiers, along with nearly 40 vehicles, to deliver relief supplies, medicines, and medical equipment to Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen, and Lang Son provinces.
