Prolonged heavy rain triggered the landslide at Km226+500 on Mimosa Pass in Xuan Huong-Dalat Ward, tearing the road apart and cutting off traffic. The fractured section measures around 100 metres long, 50 metres wide and 30 metres deep.

At the time of the collapse, several drivers spotted the danger and stopped in time, avoiding damage or injury. One passenger coach came to a halt right at the edge of the drop.

The incident followed an earlier landslip on November 18 at Km224+700, where a 20-metre downslope section failed, causing metal barriers to sink by 1-2 metres and creating a hazardous overhang.
The Lam Dong Construction Department has banned vehicles over 15 tonnes from using Mimosa Pass and redirected heavy trucks onto alternative routes.
Mimosa Pass, stretching 11 km, is a key mountain road connecting Dalat with surrounding areas.
