
Ly Hoang Nam has lost no games so far at the ITF Junior G1 tournament in Malaysia.
Hoang Nam, rated 49th in the ITF Junior rankings, won the first set 6/3 before putting out Wu’s efforts for resurgence in the second set with a score of 6/4 in Nam’s favour.
Nam has been enjoying an impressive winning streak so far in the tournament, losing no sets in the last three rounds.
Earlier, the Vietnamese fourth seed overcame Australian Scott Jones 6/1, 6/3 in the second round before crushing Malaysian Koay Hao Sheng in two sets, both at 6/1, to make the quarterfinals.
In the semifinals scheduled for tomorrow, Hoang Nam will take on ITF Junior No. 62 Soon Woo Kwon of the Republic of Korea (RoK), who rallied to a surprising quarterfinal victory against Japanese top seed Jumpei Yamasaki, ranked 21st in the world.
Regarding the men’s doubles, Hoang Nam paired with Filipino Alberto Lim to set up a semifinal clash with top seed RoK pair Chan Yeong Oh and Soon Woo Kwon.
