Thanh Hoa Police announced on August 2 that they co-operated with the Quang Chieu Border Gate Station to detain Thao Chap of Lao nationality when he was carrying drugs across the border in Muong Lat District.
"The 31-year-old man was carrying a bag containing five pineapples at 6.30 pm on July 27," the police announced. "Checking the fruits, we found that one of them had its flesh removed and filled with a small package. The package contained 378 ecstasy pills.

At the police station, Thao Chap said that he had been hired to carry the drugs from Lao to Vietnam for VND3 million (USD119).
Police are further investigating the case.
