The Thanh Hoa Provincial Border Guard Command said on Thursday morning that they had arrested a Lao couple at 7.05 am when they were transporting drugs through the Laos border gate to Muong Lat District.
The 41-year-old man and 32-year-old woman were caught red handed with 15,000 pills and a knife.
According to initial investigations by Thanh Hoa Border Guard Command, the two are leaders of a drug trafficking ring from Laos. They usually hire local people from the Mong ethnic group in both Lao and Vietnam as guides and have successfully conducted many drug transports previously.
