On April 20, the police arrested a group of four people involved in the ring, consisting of Giang Mi, Hoang Sang, Thao Thanh and Giang Nha who all live in Bau Lau Village, Muong Khuong District. Two days later, some other related people were also detained.

Giang Mi who leads the ring has been arrested
These people belonged to a ring that offered cross-border trafficking. Giang Mi, 31, led the ring.
Since early April 2020, Mi’s gang took almost 200 people across the border on 90 occasions. For people who want to enter Vietnam from China, the gang used to send its members to China to instruct them.
With each successful case, Giang Mi paid her accomplices VND600,000-1 million each.
Lao Cai police previously detained Bui Thi Ngoc in Nghe An Province for entering Vietnam illegally from China. Ngoc confessed she had gone to China to work. Expanding the investigation, the police found Giang Mi’s ring.
