The province's mountainous terrain and steep passes make several major roads vulnerable to landslides and rockfalls during periods of heavy rain.
Hoang Anh Tuan, deputy director of the provincial Department of Construction, said road transport had become more critical during the closure of Lien Khuong Airport, with National Highways 20, 27, 27C and 28 serving as key regional routes.

Following landslides and debris flows triggered by heavy rains last year, authorities have intensified inspections, identified high-risk locations and prepared emergency response plans.
Specialised teams have been deployed to inspect roads, bridges and protective infrastructure, while equipment, materials and traffic diversion plans have been readied for potential incidents.
According to the provincial Road Maintenance Management Board, 16 projects are under way to repair and reinforce transport infrastructure along key national highways and mountain passes.
Five landslide mitigation projects on National Highways 20, 27C and 28 have been completed, with several others due to finish this month.
Bao Loc Pass on National Highway 20 remains under close monitoring due to recurring rainy-season landslides, while reinforcement works continue on National Highways 28 and 28B.
Authorities said they are also working to digitalise landslide data and develop early-warning systems to improve forecasting, traffic management and disaster response.
