The province had set a goal to welcome over nine million tourists next year, including 680,000 foreigners, with a total revenue of VND20 trillion, Thai said.

Kien Giang has focused on promoting local destinations inside and outside the country and assisting tourism firms in the digital transformation process. The province has also paid attention to developing new tourism products, particularly eco-tourism, green tourism, and community-based tourism activities as well as enhancing management and conservation of tourism resources.

Kien Giang has also proposed preferential policies to help facilitate the operations of travel firms. In addition, the province has co-operated with concerned agencies to improve entry and exit procedures for foreign tourists.

Under Kien Giang’s planning by 2030 approved by the prime minister, the cities of Rach Gia, Ha Tien and Phu Quoc will form the main triangle of the province’s urban, commercial and service development. Specifically, Phu Quoc will be developed into a centre for high-quality ecological services and international tourism.
