This is part of the Khanh Hoa urban development programme through to 2045 agreed by the provincial people’s committee following the local Department of Construction.

According to Khanh Hoa People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen Tan Tuan, the province is expected to become a centrally-governed city by 2030, so it is necessary to develop Cam Ranh and Cam Lam into urban districts.By 2030, besides the current Ninh Hoa Town, Khanh Hoa will have Dien Khanh and Van Ninh as towns.
Khanh Hoa is now home to Nha Trang City, nine rural districts and Ninh Hoa Town.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has signed a decision approving the Khanh Hoa provincial master planning in the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.
Under the planning, Khanh Hoa strives to be ranked among 15 localities with the highest GDP per capita in Vietnam between 2021 and 2030.
