Hundreds of people have been cheated buying air tickets and tours online from a woman in the central city of Danang.
According to the Danang City Police Department, Nguyen Thi Thu Trang, 25, used various mobile phone sim cards, and created different Facebook accounts to sell fake air tickets, hotel rooms and tours.
Initial investigations showed that the woman took information from the websites of many travel companies, edited and advertised on some of her Facebook accounts including JP Duong, Phong ve Binh and Zalo accounts of Huu An, Khanh An, Binh Hoang Nu, telling people that she was a travel agent.
After people sent money for deposits, Trang would disappear. One of her bank accounts had received over a billion VND as deposits from her customers.
Danang Police has warned people to be careful when booking hotel rooms, air tickets and tours online. People are advised to book directly from travel companies or check their information carefully when booking online.
