The National Assembly Standing Committee has approved the government’s proposal on the expansion of Hue City.

At a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Tuesday, Minister of Internal Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra said that being a heritage and tourism city, Hue City’s area is now quite small, resulting in population density of 7,222 people per square kilometre. Meanwhile, the infrastructure in its inner-city areas faces congestion and over use.

Under the government’s proposal sent to the National Assembly Standing Committee, all the area and population in nine wards and communes of Huong Thuy Town and the districts of Huong Tra and Phu Vang will be merged into Hue City.
