Hopes for a stronger Pakistan-Vietnam relationship

Pakistan and Vietnam will have a chance to better understand each other's culture and society.

Pakistan and Vietnam will have a chance to better understand each other's culture and society.

During a visit to DTiNews office on February 8, the Pakistani Ambassador to Vietnam Shahid M.G.Kiani told Pham Huy Hoan, Editor in Chief of DTiNews, “The diplomatic relationship between the two countries during the past has always been wonderful. However, it still doesn’t match with the traditional relationship in terms of economics, trade and media because we are lacking direct contact among people from the two nations.”

The ambassador expressed his honour to continue his term working in Vietnam and said that in addition to his diplomatic mission, he wants to be a friend with all Vietnamese people ranging from high level officials to ordinary people with whom he meets on the roads.

Although he has been staying in Vietnam for 4 months, he has traveled to many places and experienced Vietnamese hospitality and creativity in many fields. He’s particularly impressed with the Cu Chi tunnels, saying it is symbolic of Vietnamese strength and creativity during the war.

“President Ho Chi Minh was a great leader of Vietnam and the world. My country and myself have great admiration for him,” added Kiani.

Passing over the war, Vietnam has become one of the magical stories in terms of economic development. However, there are still many places in the world where people know little about Vietnam.

Pakistan is among them, according to Kiani. Likely, Vietnam and the world don’t know much about Pakistan. Most of the things they know about Pakistan are related to bomb explosions, suicide bombers and conflicts. Pakistan, in fact, is a beautiful country with a rich culture and traditional history where the multi-language press is very well developed. Besides violent conflicts, those who work in health care, charity foundations and reconstruction activities are making consecutive efforts with an aim of easing pains of victims and lessening their material losses.

Pham Huy Hoan, Editor in Chief of DTiNews was highly appreciative of Kiani’s feelings for President Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam and its people. He believes that the diplomatic relationship between the two countries will develop further. In addition, DTiNews will try its best to boost intensive contacts among people from the two nations. For now, Hoan recommended that within his abilities he can help to exchange journalists between Pakistan and Vietnam in order to create opportunities for people to learn more about the cultures of the two countries. As a result, readers can have a better understanding of the two nations.

Hoan also hopes that with the help of the Ambassador and Pakistani embassy in Vietnam, DTiNews can regularly access comprehensive news sources from Pakistan as well as the embassy’s activities.

Pham Huy Hoan wished Kiani a happy first Tet in Vietnam and hoped the Pakistan-Vietnam relationship and Pakistani Embassy-DTiNews relationship would have prosperous developments this year.

The Ambassador also sent his best wishes to DTiNews and its readers. He promised that he would try his best to strengthen fruitful relationships between the two countries in general and between his office with DTiNews in particular.
