From August, the Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Centre will officially issue a dedicated public transport card to help eligible groups verify their status when travelling by bus and metro.
The card will be issued to people with recognised revolutionary service, people with disabilities, those aged 60 and above, and children under six. Passengers holding a valid card will receive a 100 per cent fare exemption on 134 subsidised bus routes and Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien).

To make the process easier for residents, authorities have introduced three registration methods at the same time. Applicants can register online via the MultiGo app, apply through the Public Transport Management Centre's information portal, or submit documents in person at Saigon Bus Station.
Applications must include basic personal information, a portrait photograph and documents confirming eligibility for preferential treatment, such as a citizen identity card for older people, a disability certificate, a child's birth certificate or certification of recognised revolutionary service.
Applications will be received and assessed within one working day. Once approved, the card will be issued directly at Saigon Bus Station or sent to District 8 Bus Station, Cho Lon A Bus Station or Tan Phu Bus Station within a maximum of three working days.
For bus travel, passengers must scan the QR code on the card at the T10 ticket machine as soon as they board. On Metro Line 1, passengers must present the card at the priority gate, where station staff will assist them through the barrier.
