More than 200 apricot trees at Sau Hoang Garden in District 12’s Thanh Loc Ward have bloomed, accounting for 70-80 percent of the garden’s area.

Garden owner Sau Hoang said that the blooming started two weeks ago.

According to Sau Hoang, this year’s weather was quite favourable but the early blooming of apricot gardens is due to improper care.

He has planned to trim the leaves and cut the already bloomed flowers ahead of Tet to help the remaining buds to develop and bloom precisely, Sau Hoang said, adding that he would suffer from losses this year.

He is paid VND10-15 million to care for each apricot tree a year, but it would be lower because of the early flowering.

Phat Minh Thang Garden in District 12 which is home to around 1,000 apricot trees is also witnessing the early flowering.

Sheets of tarpaulin protect apricot gardens, helping to restrict their early blooming.
