HCM City to have two metro routes, two belt roads by 2030

Ho Chi Minh City is anticipated to have two metro lines and two belt road projects in operation by 2030.

According to the HCM City Department of Transport, work on the city's first metro project, the Ben Thanh Suoi Tien line, is being sped up to ensure operation in 2024.

The city has planned to complete the second metro project, the Ben Thanh-Tham Luong line, by 2030.

Meanwhile, HCM City has set a target to complete belt roads 3 and 4 by 2026 and 2030 respectively.

The HCM City Department of Transport will work with the local Department of Planning and Investment to mobilise capital sources for transport infrastructure projects in the 2023-2025 period and a vision until 2030.

A full-line test run began on the Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien metro route on August 29, including both elevated and underground sections from Suoi Tien Coach Station in Thu Duc City to Ben Thanh Station in District 1.

Construction of Belt Road 3 in HCM City was started in June. The route has a total length of 76.3km, passing through four localities: HCM City (47.35km); Binh Duong (10.76km); Dong Nai (11.26 km); and Long An (6.81km).
