Officers from Tan Hung Ward Police Department are currently caring for two dogs and 30 cats recovered from a rented apartment on Le Van Luong Street, and have issued a public notice asking residents who have lost pets to come forward.
Pet owners are asked to bring proof of ownership, including photos of the animals before they went missing, purchase documents, vaccination records, veterinary invoices or transaction histories, along with details of when the pets were lost and any distinctive features.
The animals were found on January 28 when the Ho Chi Minh City Police's Criminal Investigation Division, working with Tan Hung Ward Police Department, inspected the apartment. Officers discovered the pets packed in mesh bags with a combined weight of more than 92 kg, along with weighing scales, fabric bags, rope and four motorbikes.
Five suspects were present at the scene: Le Minh Thanh, 49; Le Quoc Khanh, 25; Nguyen Duy Thien, 30; Nguyen Hoang Long, 26; and Pham Minh Phuoc, 74.
Initial statements indicate that Thanh, Thien and Phuoc stole dogs and cats in Tan Hung ward and nearby areas, before selling them to Khanh and Long for resale. Police are continuing to investigate the case.
