HCM City Police has issued regulations to limit the amount of money help by traffic police while on duty to just VND100,000 (USD4.76).

The municipal police will assign plain-clothed investigators to carry out spot-checks on traffic police.
The investigators will record any violations for future action.
Senior Lieutenant-Colonel Tran Thanh Tra, Deputy Director of the municipal Traffic Police Department, inspectors from the Ministry of Public Security, the municipal Police and Traffic Police will join crack down on violations.
Any traffic policeman found with more than VND100,000 (USD4.76) must provide a clear explanation for the additional cash.
If he fails to defend himself, he will be accused of misconduct at work, and will face further investigation.
“Any traffic policeman who wants to carry money for personal reasons after their shift must seal the money and receive confirmation from their leaders that they are allowed to carry the cash. They can bring personal mobile phones but are banned from using them while on duty,” Tra added.
