HCM City has launched a service to provide emergency support for people with serious symptoms of depression.

The service is a joint project of the 115 Emergency Centre and the HCM City Psychiatric Hospital.

According to the HCM City Department of Health, in necessary cases, people can call 115 for the emergency centre or 19001267 for the HCM City Psychiatric Hospital.

After receiving the call, the hotline staff will ask some questions and pass on details to out-of-hospital emergency teams which will come to take patients to hospital for examination and treatment.

The local health sector will boost activities to raise capacity in medical centres in terms of providing examinations and treatment for people with mental disorders, particularly after the Covid-19 pandemic.

The World Health Organisation reported that roughly 25 percent of the world population faced mental problems, including depression, in the first year of the Covid-19 pandemic.
