HCM City will ban vehicles from the city centre on December 31 to serve the firework displays for the New Year.
A high-altitude fireworks show is scheduled at Saigon River Tunnel in District 2, while a low-range fireworks show is slated to take place at Dam Sen Cultural Park in District 11. Each fireworks display will last for 15 minutes on New Year’s Eve.
According to the municipal Department of Transport, vehicles will be prohibited from using Nguyen Hue Street from 6 pm to midnight on December 30 and from 3 pm December 31 to 1 am on January 1.
Vehicles will not be allowed to use many streets between 8 pm December 31 and 1 am on January 1. The streets include Le Loi (the section from Dong Khoi to Pasteur), Dong Khoi (the section from Nguyen Du to Ton Duc Thang), Nguyen Tat Thanh (from Khanh Hoi Bridge to Hoang Dieu), Ham Nghi (from Ho Tung Mau to Ton Duc Thang), Hai Trieu (from Ho Tung Mau to Nguyen Hue), Ly Tu Trong (from Pasteur to Hai Ba Trung).
Other streets which will be affected are Le Thanh Ton, Cong Truong Lam Son, Dong Du, Mac Thi Buoi and roads around Cong Truong Me Linh and Ba Son and Khanh Hoi bridges.
