She then went to see a doctor who said that she suffered from contact dermatitis due to being stung by rove beetles.

Trung from Tay Mo Ward in Nam Tu Liem District said that his house doors have often kept closed since July to prevent insects.

"We have to use air conditioning, instead of opening the doors, to avoid mosquitoes and rove beetles,” Trung added.

Despite the carefulness, some days ago, his son was still hit by rove beetles.

Nguyen, a student from a university in Nam Tu Liem District, said that she usually turns off the lights to help the rove beetles go away.

Doctor Nguyen Tien Thanh from the Vietnam Dermatology Association said that the number of people affected by rove beetles has been rising. Serious cases see widespread injuries, causing great pain.

Many patients were even diagnosed with herpes zoster, resulting in improper treatment.

It is currently the mating season for rove beetles.
