Hanoi to build VND500-billion wastewater treatment plant

Hanoi authorities have approved a VND500-billion (USD19.58 million) wastewater treatment project in Son Tay Town.

According to the Hanoi People's Committee, the project will help to treat wastewater in 7 of 15 wards in Son Tay Town, including Le Loi, Phu Thinh, Ngo Quyen, Quang Trung, Son Loc, Vien Son, and Trung Hung.

The plant scheduled for completion in 2027 will develop a main sewer network, overflow chambers, interceptor lines, and a centralised treatment plant, aiming to establish a fully separate sewage system. Treated wastewater will meet regulatory standards before being discharged into the environment.

The Hanoi Management Board for Technical Infrastructure and Agricultural Projects has been assigned to carry out the project between 2024 and 2027.

The Son Tay Town People’s Committee is responsible for implementing site clearance in accordance with regulations to facilitate timely project execution.

The project has a lifespan of at least 50 years.
