Nguyen Thanh Nam, general director of Transerco, said that during the nine-month period, the number of bus passengers using single tickets grew by 49 percent on-year, while the rate of monthly ticket users increased by 49 percent.
Between January and September this year, Hanoi's bus network’s total revenues were estimated at VND410.2 billion (USD16.8 million).
The BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) line alone transported roughly 3.4 million passengers in the January-September phase.
Transerco has adjusted 28 bus routes to meet actual demand and repaired 68 bus stops.
Hanoi will continue expanding and improving the public transport network to help ease traffic congestion and protect the environment. The city’s public passenger transport system is expected to meet around 30-35 percent of travel demand by 2025.
