The first case is a 19-year-old man in Ha Dong District. He contracted chronic hepatitis C and underwent surgery due to lymphoma.

On August 23, he suffered from fevers with headaches and muscle and joint pains. Following the three-day treatment at a private clinic, he saw improvement. But, on August 26, he saw digestive problems.
He was then sent to Military Hospital 103 and was diagnosed with dengue fever. Despite the intensive treatment, he still struggled with severe bleeding and multiple organ failure. As a result, he died on August 29.
The second case was a 45-year-old woman in Hoan Kiem District.
He was taken to Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital on August 28 in a state of high fever, petechiae under the skin, oedema, abdominal pain around the navel, abdominal fluid accumulation and elevated liver enzymes.
On August 30, her condition worsened and sent to Bach Mai Hospital. She was intubated with an endotracheal tube, placed on mechanical ventilation and underwent a transfusion of four units of platelets. But the situation did not become better.
She died the same day.
The Ministry of Health said that Hanoi is among the localities with the highest number of dengue fever cases with 5,600 so far this year, up five fold on-year.
