Hanoi police said on August 3 that they had worked with market surveillance authorities to inspect a business in Kim Lien Ward, uncovering a range of products suspected of infringing the intellectual property rights of leading luxury fashion brands.
Officers seized 19 products bearing the Louis Vuitton trademark and five carrying the Gucci trademark, including handbags, wallets, clutches and belts. The items were offered for sale at prices ranging from VND 2 million to VND 10 million (approximately USD 76-382) each.
Investigators said the two suspects had rented the premises in early 2022 and partnered with several domestic leather manufacturers while using Facebook to advertise and sell products bearing the trademarks of internationally recognised luxury brands. Police estimate the operation generated illicit profits of around VND 4.2 billion (approximately USD 160,000).
According to investigators, since the beginning of 2026 the business had commissioned and sold 129 counterfeit luxury fashion products, earning an estimated VND 714 million (approximately USD 27,300) in illegal profits. Police said the activity showed signs of criminal infringement of industrial property rights.
The investigation was later expanded to a manufacturing workshop in Thanh Liet Ward.
During a search of the workshop, officers found machinery, equipment and raw materials believed to have been used to produce goods suspected of infringing intellectual property rights.
The investigation is continuing.
