The rule was included in Instruction No.2 concerning the Lunar New Year for 2013.

The instruction also includes the ban of using the city’s budget for buying gifts to offer officials on Tet. Foreign wines are not allowed to treat guests and public cars are banned to serve individual purposes.

The chairman also urged agencies and departments to strictly enforce Instruction No. 25/CT-TTg issued on September 26, 2012, by the prime minister on price stabilisation at the end of the year.

The Hanoi People’s Committee requested that its agencies halt the purchase of public cars and the construction of new headquarters next year.

Municipal agencies have also been urged to stop sending officials abroad unless necessary, said the chairman.

Next year, the city will focus on controlling inflation and stabilising the economy in order to create a good economic environment for small to medium-sized enterprises and create job growth.
