Hanoi offers free parking for Tet and spring festivals

Hanoi has provided multiple free parking sites during the Lunar New Year and spring festival season to ease congestion and support festive travel.

Free parking has been arranged near major cultural and religious sites, including Bach Ma Temple, St Joseph’s Cathedral and Chua Ha Pagoda, to deter informal lots and inflated holiday fees.

In Cua Nam ward, several schools, including Trung Vuong Secondary School, Tran Phu-Hoan Kiem High School, Ngo Si Lien Secondary School and Viet Duc High School, have been designated as temporary free parking sites. The service runs from 5 pm on February 16 to 1 am on February 17, and from 9 am to 8 pm between February 17 and 22.

Police in Cau Giay Ward have also arranged free parking near Chua Ha Pagoda for early-year worshippers, a move residents say cuts costs and offers greater security than informal lots in previous years.

Local authorities have been ordered to strictly enforce regulations on urban order, fire prevention, road safety and environmental hygiene, while deploying adequate staff and equipment throughout Tet and the spring festival period.
