By August 29, the occupancy rate on the Hanoi-HCM City air route was far lower than the 90 percent recorded in previous years.
Representatives from Vietnam Airlines and Bamboo Airways said bookings for the September 2 National Day holiday this year had sharply fallen compared to last year.
Meanwhile, booking rates of 72-82 percent on Hanoi-Danang and HCM City-Danang routes and up to 97 percent for flights from Hanoi to Da Lat, Quy Nhon, Hue, Phu Quoc, Con Dao and Nha Trang have been higher.
Flights from Hanoi to Dong Hoi have been fully booked.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has decided to apply higher security control measures at domestic airports and aviation service supply facilities during the National Day holiday.
Since August 26, Tan Son Nhat International Airport has opened more gates of international terminals to serve both domestic and international flights.
Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City is preparing to serve 3,600 flights with 625,000 passengers during the holiday. Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi has also estimated that some 410,000 passengers will go through the airport on nearly 2,500 flights during the National Day holiday this year, up 37 percent and 17 percent, respectively, on-year.
