The Hanoi People's Committee has just issued a document on ensuring the safe construction and operation at mini apartment buildings.
Investors of such buildings must arrange a minimum parking space of six square metres for motorbikes or electric bikes in each apartment. If not, all vehicles must be parked outside.
The parking spaces must also ensure a safe distance from the lobby and staircases while electric bikes should be charged in a separate area and kept a safe distance from one another.
Residents cannot charge their bikes overnight while investors must arrange enough fire prevention equipment in the charging areas.
The move came after the tragic fire that left 56 dead and 37 injured at an apartment building in Thanh Xuan District on September 12. Investigations showed that the fire was caused by an electrical fault in a motorbike left on the ground floor.
