GM Liem’s first defeat at 2012 Furajha Int’l Chess Champs

In a disadvantaged black player situation Liem faced fierce attacks from Sumets, who is 80 places lower than him in the latest FIDE rankings.
After such an unexpected defeat, Liem was placed 23rd in the tournament.
Earlier in his first match of the championships, he easily thrashed Indian rival Bakra Tejas.
He is scheduled to meet another Indian opponent Das Debashis, who beat defending champion Ni Hua from China in his opening match.
The Championships, which runs from November 12-21, has attracted 56 strong chess players with the Elo ratings of over 2200.
At the tournament GM Liem is seeded No.2 only after Baadur Jobava from Georgia.
