The 210-cm-long M-118 bomb, dating back to the American War, containing 817.2 kilos of explosives, was found by local residents on October 21, about 200 metres downstream from the iconic Long Bien Bridge.

The military promptly moved the bomb closer to the shore.
On Wednesday evening, the Long Bien Military High Command co-ordinated with the Engineer Corps of the Hanoi Capital Military High Command to take the bomb to a military site in Bac Giang.
This is the third bomb detected near Long Bien Bridge over the past two months. On October 10 and October 24, two M-118 bombs were also found.
Long Bien Bridge was heavily bombed between 1965 and 1972 by the US troops in the war, which ended in 1975 following the fall of the Saigon regime.
