Residents returned from storm shelters on November 7 to find collapsed houses and debris scattered across the village.

Pham Thi Ngoc Giau, 36, said she had never seen destruction like this in her 25 years in the village. In just one night, homes and streets were reduced to rubble, she said.

Residents returned home after sheltering from the storm, only to find their houses collapsed and debris strewn across the village.

Signboards and rooftops were blown away, while trees and power lines were torn down.

Doan Thanh, 69, said his only fishing boat, the family’s sole source of income, had been broken in half.

A row of seafront houses was destroyed, with many losing their roofs entirely.

Dozens of low rise homes were severely damaged after hours of fierce winds and rain, leaving the once quiet fishing community in ruins.
