The Ha Long-Yen Tu World Heritage Management Board in the northern province of Quang Ninh recently held a meeting on new visitor information requirements to support ticket management at Ha Long Bay.
The board asked travel firms, service providers and individuals to ensure that complete identification data is submitted when purchasing sightseeing tickets.
Under the new rules, Vietnamese visitors must show citizen ID information, while those not yet eligible for a citizen ID card must provide their personal identification number. Meanwhile, foreign visitors must present passport details and nationality.

For children or those without identification documents, guardians are required to provide their full name, ID or passport number, and contact phone number.
Ticketing and control staff at Ha Long International Passenger Port and Tuan Chau International Passenger Port will check the information. The data will be used solely for managing tourism activities under current regulations and will be protected to ensure security and privacy, the management board said.
Currently, visitors only need to provide their name, age, gender and nationality.
The Ha Long-Yen Tu World Heritage Management Board called for broad dissemination of the new requirements through businesses and media outlets. Data collection will begin on December 10, with the aim of completing the process and introducing digital applications by January 1, 2026.
According to the board, the requirement aims to strengthen state management of Ha Long Bay tourism, enhance visitor safety and security, and build a unified database to support digital transformation in its operations.
