Many flights to Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi have had to land at other airports due to bad weather.
A representative at Noi Bai Airport said on Thursday morning that eight flights to the airport had to switch to other airports due to a thunderstorm on Wednesday night. Meanwhile, 13 other flights had to delay departures to ensure safety.
"A heavy thunderstorm that lasted from 9-10 pm on August 23 reduced vision to as low as 3-4 kilometres," the airport said. Other flights operated normally after 10 pm when the weather got better.
The airport warned that the same situation may occur between 11 am and 3 pm today, August 24, when Hanoi and some other northern localities are forecast to be hit by continuous thunderstorms and heavy rains.
