Five workers have been killed in a coal mine accident in the northern province of Quang Ninh.
The incident happened at an Hon Gai-TKV Coal Company coal mine at around 10:10 pm on Monday. The accident was caused when coal and rock in the mine suddenly collapsed, burying the five people.
Local authorities sent a rescue force and finished their work by 5:28 am on Tuesday after finding five dead.
The Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industries Group provided VND20 million (USD785.85) to the families of each victim. The Hon Gai-TKV Coal Company will also provide VND100 million to the victims' relatives.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
In May, a landslide occurred at a coal mine of Quang Hanh Coal Company in Quang Ninh, killing three workers and injuring one.
