First club for exporters to open in HCM City

HCM City’s Investment and Trade Promotions Centre of (ITPC) will establish a club for export businesses in early June.

Ho Chi Minh City’s Investment and Trade Promotions Centre of (ITPC) will establish a club for export businesses in early June.

Already 150 businesses have registered to join the club, which is the first of its kind in Vietnam.

The club will gather help exporters improve their competitiveness and expand their markets, said the director of ITPC Tu Minh Thien.

The Club will also work with international organisations to help businesses lobby to remove trade barriers and make it easier for exporters to operate, he said, adding that the club will support businesses in gaining access to the global trade promotions network.

According to the statistics, Ho Chi Minh City now has about 100,000 businesses, 50 of which are involved in exports. The city’s exports account for 30 percent of the country’s export turnover. However, there is not a single alliance that can link up domestic businesses with foreign partners. The setting up of this club, therefore, is expected to boost links between the business community and help them raise their prestige in the global market place.
