Dung Quat Refinery, Vietnam's first oil processing plant, has become fully operational after it was restarted Jan. 13, an official with the plant's operator said Friday.
The 130,000-barrel-a-day plant was shut down Dec. 22 to replace a valve in its residual fluid catalytic cracking unit and for an overall check.
"The refinery has started turning out commercial oil products again," the official, who didn't want to be named, told Dow Jones Newswires.
He said the plant will produce 4.75 million metric tons of oil products this year.
Dung Quat is now processing only local Bach Ho crude oil and is expected to process a mixture of Bach Ho and imported crude from mid or late this year, he said.
"We plan to import 1 million metric tons of crude oil for the plant this year, but talks on crude imports with BP are still underway," the official added.
