Floodwaters in central areas such as Phan Dinh Phung, Quan Trieu, and Quang Vinh wards have now receded, allowing residents to begin restoring their homes and livelihoods after days of severe inundation.

Preliminary statistics show that since October 7, flooding and landslides triggered by Matmo’s circulation have affected 50 communes and wards across the province. The disaster has killed four people, left two missing, and injured two others. More than 200,000 homes were flooded, while roads, bridges, and essential infrastructure sustained serious damage.

Three key northern districts remain partially isolated due to landslides, and some residential areas are still cut off. Nearly 5,000 hectares of crops and thousands of livestock and poultry were lost or swept away. The total damage is estimated at over VND 3 trillion (approximately USD 120 million).

Kieu Thi Thao, Chairwoman of the Thai Nguyen Red Cross Society, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Dtinews and its readers for their timely support.

“On behalf of Thai Nguyen residents, I would like to sincerely thank Dtinews' readers and benefactors across the country for extending their compassion and solidarity to help our people overcome this difficult time,” she said.
