The centre, launched in Binh Phuoc Ward on Monday, occupies the former Tan Thien Ward People's Committee headquarters and offers free healthcare and wellness services for older residents.

The initiative is part of efforts to improve elderly care while making use of surplus public assets created after the merger of local administrative units.
Binh Phuoc Ward has identified 34 surplus government buildings following the restructuring, with plans approved to repurpose 27 of them. The remaining sites are being considered for cultural, healthcare and education facilities.
The elderly care centre operates on weekdays and prioritises residents aged 60 and above, people with chronic illnesses and those with limited mobility.
In addition to medical check-ups, visitors can receive rehabilitation therapy, herbal foot baths, physiotherapy massage and health exercises, while also accessing reading and recreational areas.
Health records are stored digitally to support long-term monitoring and care.
The project was funded through private donations, according to local authorities.
