Dantri/Dtinews Newspaper sends hundreds of warm clothes, mattresses and blankets to students at Chien Pho Boarding Primary School in Lao Cai.
The school's principal, Hoang Thi Tuyen, recently shared that her students, who are mostly from poor ethnic Nung and H'mong groups, are struggling with the cold winter weather with temperatures falling between 3-4 degrees Celsius in her area.
"Many students don't have warm clothes and some even go to school barefooted," Tuyen said.
Hearing about the situation at the school, Dantri's Editor-in-Chief, Pham Tuan Anh, decided to use the newspaper charity fund to buy 147 jackets, 100 pairs of sandals, 100 meal boxes, 20 blankets, 15 mattresses, worth VND 26 million to send to the students.

Fifth-grade student Giang Thi My after receiving the gifts said on behalf of all the students at the school they were really thankful to Dantri and the newspaper's readers for their care and support.
"The gifts are valuable to us," My said. "We're living in a mountainous remote area with tough winter weather and many of us have to walk over ten kilometres to school. Meanwhile, our families are poor and can’t afford proper clothing for us. We're having a warmer winter this year with your gifts. Thank you so much. Your care and support are great encouragement to us and we'll try to overcome difficulties and study hard to have a better future."

Teacher Hoang Thi Tuyen said the students, their parents and all the teachers were very happy to see students receive warm clothing.
"Thank you very much for your support to our students," she said.
