The exhibition is jointly organised by the State Records and Archives Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Vietnam Military History Museum and the Naval Region 3 Command.

The event attracted representatives from central and local authorities, military units, cultural and research institutions, as well as students, soldiers and members of the public.
According to organisers, the exhibition is part of activities marking World Oceans Day and Vietnam Sea and Islands Week 2026, while promoting awareness of maritime history and archival heritage.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Thi Nga, deputy director-general of the State Records and Archives Department, said Vietnam's seas and islands are an integral part of the country's territory.
She added archival documents and historical records preserved in Vietnam and abroad provide important historical and legal materials relating to the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.
The exhibition features nearly 200 selected items from Vietnam's National Archives Centres, the Vietnam Military History Museum, Naval Region 3 Command and other domestic and international archives and libraries.
The display focuses on historical records, maps and documents concerning the administration, management and protection of the two archipelagos throughout different periods of Vietnam's history.
It also highlights the contributions of generations of Vietnamese soldiers and civilians in safeguarding the country's maritime interests, including personnel serving in Naval Region 3.
Among the highlights are rare archival materials preserved at Vietnam's National Archives Centres, including Nguyen Dynasty imperial records and woodblocks recognised by UNESCO as documentary heritage.
Organisers said holding the exhibition at Naval Region 3 Command provides military personnel and visitors with an opportunity to explore historical documents and archival materials related to Vietnam's maritime history.
The exhibition opened to the public on June 15 at the headquarters of Naval Region 3 Command in Danang.
