The Dream Flower Hotel in Dalat City
The Dalat City People's Committee on February 1 issued the fine to the hotel for "discriminating against guests and not having informed local authorities before being put into operation as regulated."
According to the head of the Dalat City Department of Culture and Information, Le Anh Kiet, a female tourist from Dong Nai Province booked rooms at the Dream Flower Hotel for the 2023 Tet Lunar New Year holiday and paid in advance for her booking. However, she was refused when coming to stay at the hotel. The hotel's owner used bad language. The guest recorded a video of the hotel owner's behaviour and then posted it on social networks.
"The guest said that she booked some rooms for a group of six friends at the Dream Flower Hotel, but when they arrived, the hotel owner refused to serve them because they were Chinese Vietnamese," Kiet explained. "This was against the law and badly affected the local tourism industry. Hearing about the information, we contacted the tourist and investigated the case. We also sent our apology to her and proposed that the city people's committee issue a fine on the hotel."
Kiet added that the Dream Flower Hotel has also violated regulations after failing to inform local authorities about their commencement of official operations in December 2022.
The official also noted that Dalat City had hotlines for tourists to inform about problems of the local tourism industry.
